Date: 30. 1. 2025, Austria, Slovenia Meeting for the establishment of the Loibl tunnel emergency connection Representatives from KNG, Elektro Gorenjska, the Roads and Bridges Department of the Carinthian state government, the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency and Slovenian DRI Investment Management met in January to explore solutions for bringing the connecting cable through the tunnel and establishing an emergency connection between the countries. At the meeting, held on the Slovenian side of the tunnel, experts reviewed the status of the infrastructure in the Loibl tunnel and discussed possible solutions. The stakeholders, including the involved ministries and directives, dedicated most of their time to discussing the open questions, such as the position of the cable in the tunnel, which side of the road should be used, the type and length of cable, the procurement of the cable, etc. In the end, they expressed a shared desire to make the procedure as smooth as possible, highlighting the collaborative nature of the meeting.
